DETERMINERS
Defination: A determiner is a word that is placed just before a noun to give additional information about that noun.
Types of Determiners: Articles, Demonstrative, Possessives, Quantifier, Cardinals, Ordinals, Distributive, Predeterminers, Interrogative
ARTICLES:
Article is an adjective. It is used to indicate the identity of the noun. There are 2 types of articles Definite article (the) and Indefinite article (a,an).
Examples: 1) She is the brilliant student.
2)I had an egg for breakfast today.
3)I have finally got a good job.
DEMONSTRATIVE:
A word that directly indicates a person/thing or few people and few things. Demonstrative words are this, that, those, these.
Examples: 1)I have heard about this wonderful garden.
2)That story is written by Akshay Kumar.
3)I remembered those stars.
4) These flowers are very beautiful.
POSSESSIVES:
Possessives are words that show ownership or relationship between people or things. Possessive words are my, his, her, our, your, its.
Examples: 1)I made my decisions.
2)Her father is very rich.
3)He does not speak our language.
QUANTIFIERS:
Quantifiers are the determiners that describe quantity in a noun phrase. Quantifier words are some, few, little, many, much, etc.
Examples: 1)I saw few people in the program.
2)I have many books.
3)Just gave us a little more time.
CARDINAL AND ORDINAL:
Cardinal is a number that says how many of something there are, such as one, two, three, etc. Ordinal is a number that tells the position of something in a list, such as 1st, 2nd, 3rd,etc.
Examples: 1) I purchased one apple.
2)India is the 7th largest country in the world.
DISTRIBUTIVES:
Distributive determiners refers to a group of people or things, and to individual members of the group.They express how something is distributed, shared or divided.Words of distributive determiners are each, every, either, neither, all, etc.
Examples: 1)We know each other.
2)Neither of them was looking for a mate.
3)We all were playing.
PREDETERMINERS:
It is a word that is used before determiners. Predeterminer words are such, rather, quite, etc.
Examples:1)My mom is such a beautiful woman.
2)It is quite near the park gate.
INTERROGATIVE:
Interrogative determiners are the determiners that formulate direct or indirect questions and exclamations.Interrogative determiner words are whose, what, which, etc.
Examples: 1)Which pen do you want?
2)This is whose bag?
3)What time is it ?
